Velvet Ant

The velvet ant, is not an ant, it is a wasp which is considered an ant. The male can fly but is stingless, whilst the female can't fly but its sting is very powerful (a 3 in the Schmidt Insect Sting Pain Index and lasts about 30 minutes). (These wasps have a hairy exoskeleton). It is a parasitoid wasp. Although I put it into the Ants class, it is from the order "Hymenoptera".
